Oh snap! gap intelligence just closed out another totally radical Drives for Rides season. This year we kicked off Memorial Day weekend by doing great for our community with our 9th Annual Drives for Rides charity golf tournament. Our flashback to all things 90’s nostalgia created a fun-filled day where gappers, golfers, and generous donors once again banded together to raise awareness, and funds, for the Emilio Nares Foundation (ENF).

Why We Drives for Rides

ENF, founded by Richard & Diane Nares, is an organization dedicated to providing free transportation to life saving medical treatments and additional family support programs to underserved children with cancer. Their flagship program, Ride with Emilio, ensures that no child misses a cancer treatment due to lack of transportation. We collectively support that mission by driving our golf clubs in a tournament that directly benefits the rides provided to ENF families.

All That and a Hot Dog on a Stick

What better way to fuel the masses than with So Cal’s own Hot Dog a Stick food truck? They rolled right up in front of the first tee box to supply our crew with fresh items on a stick and their classic lemonade. Golfers also came in clutch with outfits inspired by La Croix, grunge music, iconic TV shows, and retro colors (so much neon).

Shaq Attaq

Golfers who rounded the corner to hole #1 were greeted by this 7’1” sight! Thanks to our friends over at Epson, a life-sized Shaquille O’Neal was on-site to let our golfers geek out an Epson Eco Tank and let them know they were number #1. Not only did Shaq represent a generous Epson product donation, he played seamlessly into our Back to the 90’s theme. Shaq selfies were frequent all day. Such a popular guy.

Mad Props

Thank you to the golfers, volunteers, community members, and local businesses who supported Drives for Rides and made a direct impact on ensuring that children are getting their life-saving medical treatments. This year we raised more than $55,000 (= about 1,100 rides) BOOYAH! Extra mad props to returning Tournament Sponsors Matt Red and Chris Doyle that always help make this day truly special.
