At gap intelligence you see it everywhere, we are a values-led company. It is on our website, our email signatures, our facebook, heck we even have a Value-Sled. Get it? But there is a big difference in saying we are values-led and actually leading by those values. If you aren’t familiar with our core values here at gap they are: Professionalism, Ownership, Transparency, Willingness, and Passion.

Passion is probably my favorite one. I have a lot of passions, and at gap intelligence I get to express them in several different ways. We are passionate about our company, our community, and about being a part of something bigger than ourselves. We care. As head of our 3Ts committee, these words ring especially true every May.

3Ts stands for Time, Talent, and Treasure, all things that we as people and gappers have the ability to give to make our community a better place. The 3Ts host a bunch of awesome events throughout the year to make sure all gappers have the opportunity to give back like our annual Emilio Nares Foundation Toy Drive and our San Diego Blood Bank Blood Drive. But to me, the gap intelligence event that shines brightest with all three of these T’s is our annual Drives for Rides Golf Tournament benefiting the Emilio Nares Foundation (ENF).

If you aren’t familiar with ENF, I highly recommend you check them out! ENF is a local nonprofit and the work they do literally saves lives right here in San Diego. They serve low income families whose children are battling cancer through a multitude of programs, one in particular being Ride with Emilio. Ride with Emilio provides free transportation for children and their parents to and from the hospital for cancer-related appointments. Last year, Ride with Emilio served 223 patients through 4,250 rides, and traveled 107,000 miles! Between fuel, insurance, maintenance, and drivers it takes a lot to keep those vans going but Drives for Rides and our gappers are up to the challenge!

The $50,000 Journey

This year, we set our sights on raising $50,000 for ENF. What would $50K do? $50,000 would fund 1,000 live saving rides for Ride with Emilio! We knew our goal was steep, but we were determined. Thanks to our amazing gappers and the support of our local community, on May 5th, 132 highly skilled golfers took to the green at the Encinitas Ranch Golf Course to support ENF. Want to know what the craziest and best part was? We hit our goal of $50,000 for ENF before the tournament even began!

This may have been our fifth annual Drives for Rides, but it was also a year of firsts. Our first Title Sponsor, our first radio spots (we aired on KBPS how cool is that?!), our first Hole in One, my first time on live news (eeekkk!) and ultimately the first time we surpassed our goal before the tournament even got started. Saying that I am proud of our accomplishments this year is an understatement. Together gappers, golfers, donors, and sponsors did something monumental! With everyone's help, support, and passion for ENF the Fifth Annual Drives for Rides raised over $58,000, crushing our goal of $50,000 and helping Ride with Emilio to provide over 1,128 rides!

Five down and many more to come

In five years, Drives for Rides has raised over $170,000 for ENF. In case you were curious, that breaks down to 3,400 Rides with Emilio, and we don’t plan on slowing down anytime soon!

Miss the fun this year?

Don't panic! Drives for Rides will return! And because who doesn’t love a good theme? The Sixth Sith Annual Drives for Rides benefiting the Emilio Nares Foundation will be back Friday, May the 4th (be with you) 2018. Mark your calendars you must!

Can't wait a whole year to learn more about the Emilio nares Foundation?

Richard and Diane Nares lost their only son, Emilio Nares, to cancer when he was 5-years-old. Turning tragedy into hope, the Nares family created the Emilio Nares foundation in 2003. ENF provides a variety of programs and services for low-income, underprivileged families whose child has cancer. ENF’s flagship program, Ride With Emilio, is a transportation service in California. At this time no other transportation exists that is dedicated to the unique socio-economic needs of low-income families whose children must access cancer treatment on time, but cannot due specifically to transportation barriers. The Ride With Emilio program has virtually eliminated missed appointments due to transportation challenges among the patients served. Ride with Emilio has been recognized as a model program by the U.S. Surgeon General and President Obama. We are a 501C3 tax-exempt organization. All donations to the Emilio Nares Foundation are tax deductible. Learn more about ENF: enfhope.org

Holding a check for $57,650.
