Fourth Annual Drives for Rides: Rain or Shine!
Drives for Rides season means all hands on deck at gap intelligence. Every year Drives for Rides gets bigger and better and our Fourth Annual Drives for Rides was no exception. On May 6th, 136 golfers braved the grey skies and rain to support ENF at the beautiful Encinitas Ranch Golf Course. With the help and support of our generous sponsors, donors, and skilled golfers, we raised over $41,000 for ENF, surpassing our goal of $40,000!
What does it take to pull off an amazing Drives for Rides? An amazing team of gappers, a lot of heart, and the support of our San Diego community and local companies! In four years the Drives for Rides Tournament has raised a total of over $120,000 for ENF!
ENF a San Diego Non-Profit with Wide Reach
In case you don’t know who ENF is, they are a San Diego non-profit dedicated to navigating families through their child’s journey with cancer. Richard and Diane Nares lost their only son, Emilio Nares, to cancer when he was 5 years old. Turning tragedy into hope, the Nares family created the Emilio Nares foundation (ENF) in 2003. ENF provides a variety of programs and services for low-income, underprivileged families whose children are battling cancer, right here in San Diego. ENF’s flagship program, Ride With Emilio (hence Drives for Rides), is a transportation service dedicated to meeting the needs of low-income families whose children must access cancer treatment on time, but cannot due to a lack of transportation. The Ride With Emilio program has virtually eliminated missed appointments due to transportation challenges among the patients served. Last year alone Ride With Emilio’s vans traveled over 50,000 miles, providing over 4500 rides for 250 patients – that’s over 162,000 hours spent driving!
