This year, gap intelligence celebrated its ‘most valuable day of the year’ with our fifth annual gapCon.  On June 12, gappers kicked off the day at Marina Village, ready for a day of insights, growth, camaraderie, and education. Each year, the gapCon committee plans the day-long event with one key question in mind ‘What do gappers need right now?’ With an ultimate goal of providing value, the committee designed the day around the theme of ‘evolve, elevate’, in alignment with gap intelligence’s overall vision.

The day kicked off with Brandon Black, our keynote speaker.  Brandon’s rich professional background was brought to life as he shared valuable lessons of growth and evolution from various aspects of his career and how it led him to the successes he reaps today.  Brandon’s insights were enjoyed by all gappers and truly spoke to our theme: evolve, elevate.

While Brandon was a tough act to follow, Erin Passons stepped in to lead our group through a StrengthsFinder based workshop. Erin is a dynamic expert in coaching and facilitating team building exercises.  Erin has worked with a variety of organizations to provide coaching and workshop facilitation in the areas of strengths-based performance and overall leadership development.  Prior to our hands-on workshop with Erin, gappers were each provided a copy of StrengthsFinder, a book and online assessment that measures a person’s natural talent within 34 themes. From the online testing, each gapper identified their top 5 dominant strengths, revealing the way that a person may think, feel, and behave. StrengthsFinder helps individuals discover and build upon the areas in which they are most likely to develop and succeed. By leading us through a hands-on exercise, the power of StrengthsFinder and the theory behind it was brought to life by Erin.

After a lot of food, drink, and fun, the day was rounded off with three presentations from our internal teams and a guest panel (always a crowd favorite). The Dev group delivered a dynamic live presentation on the power of Instagram and open platforms, Licensing and Servicing illustrated gap’s newest power tool, SalesDrive powered by gap intelligence , and our new categories team shared the process of evaluating and launching new categories as we continue to plan for the future.

The day was an overwhelming success and we are grateful and appreciative to each of the participants for helping create the most valuable day of the year for gap. Huge thanks to Brandon Black, Erin Passons, and our panel guests, George England, Vince Glorioso, and Andy Tenn, who discussed evolving and evolution in their businesses.

The gapCon committee can’t wait for gapCon 2016!
