Each week we meticulously collect, audit, and report millions upon millions of data points, highlighting the pricing, promotional, product, and placement activity across the 24 product categories we currently track, each of which has its own dedicated team of experts that make the magic all happen. It’s something we are passionate about, and we feel that we’re the best in the world at it.

We’re Seriously Data-ing.

While the reports and platforms we currently offer as a means to consume our robust data are super awesome, we know we can always do awesome-er. In order to stay current and meet the demands of an ever-changing landscape, we are constantly evaluating shifts in the consumer market, forecasted trends, and, most importantly, client needs and requests in order to produce our next generation of service and platform enhancements. It can be something as big as the addition of a new product category to our portfolio of market intelligence services, or something as simple yet impactful as a weekly raw data download. The point is, if it’s important as far as the market is concerned and of value to our clients, we will unquestioningly try to make it happen.

Doing It on the Daily

With that said, we are excited to announce the latest enhancement to our weekly Pricing & Promotions reports… Deal of the Day promotions! In addition to the various other promotion types we currently track in our weekly reports, a recent external request was made for us to include Deal of the Day promos, as flash sale promotions such as these can have a significant effect on spikes in product sell-through. By tracking these deals on a daily basis, we will be providing visibility into Best Buy’s promotional strategy, as well as the impact such initiatives have on the market. And it goes without saying that visualization = value.

Deal of the Day Header Deal of the Day promotions will be tracked on a Friday-Thursday schedule, with any applicable promos over that period being reflected when we publish our next batch of Pricing & Promotions reports the following week. Relevant Deal of the Day promo data will be found listed in the “Promotions” tab of the reports and will include the merchant (, product information including brand, product name, part number, and merchant SKU, the date the promotion was offered, and the promotion value and type. 

Additionally, each line of Deal of the Day data will include a dedicated “Conditions/Notes” column which will provide more detailed information about the promotion, including the net price after discount, all in one place (ex. $179 net price after $70 Instant Savings; SKU 5712321; Online Daily Deals). Users can also use the “Online Daily Deals” verbiage found in this column to filter on Deal of the Day promos within the report if they want a snapshot of recent activity. 

Finally, gap intelligence will also maintain its own personal database of applicable Deal of the Day images, so that in the event that a subscriber requests any visual evidence of a deal having been offered, we’ll have it at the ready for them. 

When Do We Eat?

For our soft opening, subscribers to our weekly PC categories (Desktop PCs, Notebook PCs, and Tablets & Detachables) will be able to “consume” any relevant Deal of the Day promotions data beginning with the Pricing & Promotions reports published the week of November 5th, 2017. All other participating weekly categories will have these deals reflected in reports published the week of November 26th (including deals through Thanksgiving… wink, wink).
