Continuing my blog series about our retail data collectors around the country, I now move from our collector in Boston, to our husband and wife team of Jim and Jeane in Seattle, Washington.  Jim and Jeane are our only current tandem team and have found a great balance in working together to get us accurate data!

Q: How long have you been working with gap?

We started with gap a little over two years ago in August 2010.

Q: How did you get involved with gap?

We were recruited by gap based on our experience with the NPD Group. We worked with the NPD Group in a similar position for about 3 years prior to being hired by gap.

Q: What is your favorite part of the job?

We owned a few small businesses for about 18 years, so the independent nature of the position appealed to us.

Q: What is your favorite product category to collect and why?

Printers because they are usually well organized and labeled correctly (as opposed to some other categories), so it feels like we’re getting better and more accurate information. It’s also an interesting category, and we like to keep up with the technology and changing features.

Q: What is your favorite store to visit and why?

OfficeMax because the employees are friendly and the store is clean and well organized.

Q: What is something that you’ve learned about retail and consumer electronics through working with gap?

We have learned that the market is ever changing.   It is always amazing to see the speed with which products come, go, and change.

Q: Can you share something interesting about yourself: Hobbies? Family? Other Job? Kids? Pets? Anything!

We both work in the world of non-profits.  Jeane is a pre-school teacher and Jim manages two departments it a regional performing arts center. We have two grown children, a 110 lb dog named Jack, a cat named Bob, and enjoy attending every Seattle Sounders game.
