gap intelligence’s 3Ts sported the color pink in support of Susan G. Komen ‘s Race for the Cure, San Diego, on November 4th.  This was gap intelligence’s 3rd year participating in this event.  We headed to Balboa Park for a 5K in support of Breast Cancer research towards prevention, early detection, and a cure.  Our theme this year had a western flare with the mantra of “let’s give cancer the boot”!  Our team name, Cancer Kickers, enjoyed accessorizing our western themed tees with bandanas, sheriff’s stars, cowboy hats, and some even wore mustaches.  We raised $8688 for Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, San Diego.  Team Cancer Kickers came in 9th overall for donations earned.

Susan G. Komen for the Cure is the global leader in the breast cancer movement and they have invested more than $1 billion towards research since its inception in 1982.  They focus on educating women and building programs to help those that can’t afford treatment.  They also focus on influencing state and federal legislatures to make breast cancer research a priority.

The weather the day of the event could not have been any more perfect.  There wasn’t a cloud in the sky.  As we strolled through San Diego’s Balboa Park I couldn’t help but feel moved.  The line of participants stretched as far as the eye could see.  Many walked in memory of or in honor of a loved one that was touched by this terrible disease.  There is no better way to honor those that have been affected by Breast Cancer than to raise money towards a cure for it.

Great job, team Cancer Kickers!  Here’s to giving cancer the boot.  Can’t wait to rock pink again next year;  we have 365 days to prepare for next year’s theme, Rockers for Knockers!
