1) Name:
Zachary King
2) How did you get to gap intelligence?
I was actually at gap intelligence before I was an employee. I am a member of Toastmasters and was coming to the gap intelligence San Diego office each week for our Toastmasters meetings. During those meetings, I mingled with a few current gappers, and that was all she wrote. The passion, drive, and overall vibe gap intelligence embodies made me a believer that this is where I wanted to work.
Prior to gap intelligence, I was brought to San Diego through my previous job as a pharmaceutical sales rep. I worked in that role for a little over four years. My first experience coming to San Diego was in 2010 when I was in the restaurant business and opened up my restaurant in San Ysidro. I fell in love with the city then and vowed to one day make it my home. Dreams do come true!
3) What values lead you?
The two main values that lead me daily are passion and ownership. I pride myself on being passionate about what I do, and the results I am able to give my clients, coworkers, and management. This passion keeps me going and always striving to go above and beyond to deliver the best solutions possible.
Having a sense of ownership in what I do gives me the credibility I need to continue to grow relationships with my clients. It allows me to think creatively of new ways to increase my knowledge and to expand my client’s business.
4) What skills are you bringing to gap intelligence and what skills are you excited to learn?
Due to my background in the restaurant business as well as pharmaceutical sales I have a strong set of interpersonal skills. I enjoy building relationships, working with clients, and collaborating with colleagues to come up with new ideas to make things better.
What I am excited about most is taking those skills, and applying it to a different area of interest. For years I have been amazed at the advancements in CE, and Home Appliances. gap intelligence allows me the chance to channel something I am passionate about and learn at the same time.
5) If you could have any superpower, what would it be, why, and what would you do with it?
If I could have any superpower it would be the power to heal. Today we live in a world where there are so many people hurting or suffering for whatever reason. I would like the chance to be able to heal them from that pain.
6) What’s the quirkiest thing about you that you’re willing to admit?
When I think of a situation I think of all the angles. Most people may only look at something from one perspective. I try to examine it from multiple points of views. I attribute this to growing up as an only child.
7) What’s your favorite thing to do in San Diego and why?
My favorite thing to do in San Diego is to be outside. I am originally from Florida where it is either too humid or rainy to enjoy the weather. After living in Florida I endured the extreme climate of Las Vegas for 7 years. Being in San Diego allows me to be outside more and enjoy how blessed I am to live here.
8) Where would you go in a time machine?
In a time machine, I would like to go back in time to help several of my friends and close family members. They say hindsight is 20/20 and I feel because of that it would be nice to go back and help people you love and care about making better decisions.
